Technique Classes

    T1: Learn to Knit
    This class is for those of you who have never picked up needles and yarn, or who may have learned as a child and forgotten
    everything.  In the first class, you will learn to knit and bind off. Second class will include casting on, purling and reading a pattern. You
    should be able to knit up a scarf (yes, you will!) after leaving these classes, and maybe do some ribbing too.

    T2: Learn to Crochet
    All crochet stitches start from a basic chain that is in turn started with a slip knot. Once you know how to make a chain and work your
    way back along the chain you will know how to crochet. It's that simple, really! We will also learn the basic stitches of crochet: single,
    double, and triple crochet, with which you can make virtually any crochet project.

    T3: Technique EXTRAVAGANZA!  
    This class teaches you various techniques including 3 different increases, 2 different decreases, cabling, I-cord, fringing a scarf,
    Michelle’s little secret for weaving in ends, and changing colors.
    Students must come to class with the following materials and the following homework COMPLETED: Onto a size 7, 8, 9, or 10
    needle, with solid-color worsted weight yarn, cast on 18 stitches and knit 5 rows. Also, please bring the following supplies: a cable
    needle, a set of double-pointed needles (any size larger than 6), and some extra stash yarn.

    T4: Entrelac
    A unique "basket weave" pattern that looks really impressive, but is fun to knit! Learn the principles of this stitch in class,  then make a
    gorgeous scarf  in self striping yarn!  Basic knitting and purling skills, increases and decreases are all you need.
    Please bring a pair of # 8 or 9 needles to practice on. We will supply scrap yarn to work the pattern in class, and you may purchase a
    gorgeous self-striping yarn for your actual project afterwards.

Project Classes for Crocheters

C1: Crochet Hexagon Toddler jacket
Crochet a lovely kimono-style jacket for your favorite toddler (or baby, if you go down three hook sizes!). We'll use the chain, single      
crochet, and double crochet stitches, and we'll use a modified hexagon granny square pattern to construct our jacket, so you'll need to
know how to work in a circle.  Bring a size i hook to class.  We will have homework between the first and second classes.  
Materials needed: 4 skeins (400 yds) color-changing worsted yarn of your choice. We have gorgeous options at the shop!

    Project Classes for Beginner Knitters with some knitting experience:

    B1: Knit your First Hat
    Have you finished the Learn to Knit class and are sick of making scarves? Yes, you can work in the round with a bulky yarn and knit
    your first hat! So cute for adults, kids, even babies.   Basic knitting skills are all you need. We will show you how to join and work on
    circular needles, decrease, change colors and work on double-pointed needles so you can expand your repertoire from just scarves.
    Please bring a size 10 16” circular needle to class and bulky yarn   (materials can be purchased before class!)

    B2: Easy BABY BOOTIES in two hours!
    Knit these cute booties in no time at all. It's the greatest pattern: just tricky enough to be good for beginners. Learn yarn-overs, make
    eyelets, knitting 2 together and purling 2 together. Then make a bunch for all the babies in your life. Please bring size 5 or 6 needles
    to class and worsted or sport yarn . (Materials can be purchased before class!)

    B4: Beaded Wire cuff     New class!
    Do you love the look of those beautiful wire bracelets with the beads all over? Well, it's easy  and fun to do!
    Basic knitting and purling skills are all you need. We will go over different techniques for adding beads to your work, and how to work
    comfortably with wire. This beautiful bracelet will make you want to knit one for all your friends! Please bring size 2 needles to class.

         B4: Make your FIRST SOCKS
    Have you been afraid to try knitting socks? Do not fear the double-pointed needles! Learn all the techniques to make your first little
    sock, then make some larger ones for your feet. Techniques covered in class: joining and knitting in the round on double-points,
    striped color changes, heel flap and turn, picking up stitches,  toe decreases and finishing. Must be able to knit and purl. Materials
    needed: 1 set of size 3 double point needles, and tapestry needle for toe.

     Project Classes for Intermediate Knitters

    D1: Sparkly Flouncy Baby Cardi     New Class!
    This is a really fun little knit! And there are NO SEAMS since this little sweater is knit in one piece from the top  down. For those  of
    you who have little girls to knit for, this will be your favorite Summer project. All it takes is one skein of our gorgeous  Sparkly Cotton
    Flax blend and a few hours. Class will cover how to insert and work shapeline increases for shoulders, eyelets, buttonholes,  
    increases and ruffles. Please bring a circular size 6, 7 or 8 needle to class along with homework. (Homework will be assigned when
    you register
    for class.)  Please have your yarn wound into a pull skein before class :

D2:Grrlfriend Market Bag
Come knit this fun and useful market bag!  A knitted amazement that stretches to fit all the goodies from the farmer's market, but    
when you take all the items out...the bag will will bounce back to its original highly stashable shape!  These bags are great for the
beach and a million and one other things.   A quick project which uses one skein of beautiful Snallygaster Lindy Hop Sock yarn and
a small amount of a coordinating  color if desired ( I used Tonic).  
Needles: Gauge is is pretty relative here--    5 double pointed needles size 4-5-6 16” circular needle size 5-6-7-8 24” circular needle
size 10 -10.5-11  Finished Size: The finished size of your bag will depend on the size of your needles, weight of yarn used, and
gauge achieved while knitting. The body of the bag is very very stretchy with a more rigid upper band to help keep its shape. The
pattern can make a larger or smaller  by increasing or decreasing the number of stitches on each side of the base when changing to
the body.
Techniques used in the pattern: Circular knitting Double pointed needles K2tog YO Kitchener/grafting
You should know how to KNIT and PURL for this class.

    Just in time for the hot summer months, you can knit this up for yourself in a lovely cotton or bamboo yarn!
