    Project Classes for Crocheters
    C1:  Freeform Crochet
Do crochet patterns scare or bore you?  Are you fed up with following instructions?  Are you ready to get really creative?  Freeform is the technique
for you! According to the International Freeform Crochet Guild, freeform crochet is " like painting. The hook is a brush and the yarn a paint.
The result can be abstract or realistic. Freeform is original design, not a reproduction of another person's pattern, it goes beyond the realm of
patterns and restrictions that usually apply toward our art. The outcome is a piece of art like no other, not only functional, but beautiful as well.
Freeform includes 2-D and 3-D art, clothing and useful items."
Come to class and learn how to create forms, how to construct "scrumbles", how to join, fibers to use (and avoid), stitch techniques, and how to turn
your new fabric or item into something useful or wearable.  Bring along your hook collection, and all those little leftover balls of yarn you have in your
stash from other projects.  Think of a color scheme ahead of time, or just throw it all in a bag and make the decisions when you get to class.
Instructor: Heather VonMarko                     Class fee:  $30.00
Sessions:   A    Saturday, May 12         11:00 - 1:00

proficient in single crochet, know how to increase and decrease, and have an even gauge.  We'll cover the basics of shaping a toy,
special tips to make your toy shine, and loads of customization options to make your toy a one-of-a-kind creation.  Class comes with all
instructions, yarn and supplies to make your first toy.  Please bring hooks sized E, F and G to class with you.
Instructor: Heather VonMarko                        class fee:   $40.00 INCLUDES ALL MATERIALS!

SPIN or DYE your own YARN!
S1: Spin With Chris
Chris will teach using basic top-whorl drop spindles and provide a spindle, fiber, and detailed instructions/book recommendations/website references
for students to take home. I spend time educating the students about the general history of spinning, and I explain the differences in fibers and
preparation [and I bring a ton of various fibers as visual/textural reference]. I cover  different styles of spindles & wheels, and a bit about yarn
construction - then I get the students spinning. I'll introduce plying and explain how to skein, measure, and set the twist in yarn. Students will leave
with yarn that they can knit or crochet!
Instructor: Chris Knight                                        Class fee:  $60.00

S2: Overdye your (ugly) yarn!  New Class!
Let's use the kitchen at the new space to make the magic of creating beautiful things from ugly ones - we have dye and we know how to use it!
Or at least all of us will after this class! Everyone has them - the skeins of yarn that hide in the bottom of your stash, because they aren't as pretty as
you thought they were when you bought them...or your tastes changed... or someone gifted them to you and was having a bad day when they
purchased them. You know the yarn.
Here's the good news: we can rebuild them, we have the technology! And that technology is Fiber Reactive dye and a little hot water!
What you need: a couple of your sad skeins of yarn made from animal fiber. [silk blends count. Nylon in your blend is also okay.]
willingness to get hands-on. Wear old clothes, because I'm sure we'll make messes. A couple of plastic grocery bags, so that you can carry your yarn
home safely.
We will provide: rubber gloves, dye [both professional and food grade/kool-aid], written directions for you to take home with some further reading for
those who want to know more.  You will leave with beautiful yarn!
Instructor: Chris Knight                                        Class fee: $30.00  includes dye
Session         Saturday, May 26        11:30 - 1:30
