Technique Classes

T1: Learn to Knit for Adults
In the first class, you will learn to knit and bind off. Second class will include casting on, purling and reading a pattern. You should be
able to knit up a scarf (yes, you will!) after leaving these classes, and maybe do some ribbing too.

T2: Learn to Knit for Children  (ages 8 - 12)
Just like Learn to Knit for Adults, but for children ages 8 to 12.

T3: Learn to Knit for Teens  (ages 13 - 17)
Just like Learn to Knit for Adults, but for children ages 13 to 17.

T4: Kids' Crochet Class (ages 8 and up)
All crochet stitches start from a basic chain that is in turn started with a slip knot. Students will learn single crochet and create friendship
bracelets, necklace, even a little coin purse. It's that simple, really!

T5: Entrelac
A unique "basket weave" pattern that looks really impressive, but is fun to knit! Learn the principles of this stitch, then make a gorgeous
scarf  in self striping yarn!  Basic knitting and purling skills, and increase and decreases are all you need. Please bring a pair of # 8 or 9
needles to practice on. We will supply scrap yarn to work the pattern in class, and you may choose a gorgeous yarn for your actual
project afterwards.

T6: Dye your own Yarn
Back by popular demand! You will get two (2) skeins of undyed yarn to play with. One will be painted with fiber-reactive dyes in your
favorite colors, and the other will be kettle-dyed for a more subtle color variation. Keep the skeins to knit up yourself, or give them as gifts
to your favorite knitters and crocheters! Please wear old clothing, and bring an old towel to class.

T7: Introduction to Cables
Love the look of an aran sweater with the twisting vine appearance? Come learn how to make those stitches move with grace and ease
across your knitting. Measure your gauge swatch and knit a small bag using a cable of your choice!
Bring size 7 or 8 needles and cable needle or DPN in smaller size.

T8: Finishing Techniques
Have some UFOs (UnFinished Objects) in your closet? Not sure what kind of seam to use for your shoulder / side seam?
Does "three needle bindoff" scare you? Fear no more. You will learn several seam techniques so you can finally finish some projects!
HOMEWORK: knit 3 to 4 swatches in worsted weight light color yarn.
Ask Sue for details when you register.
Please bring a tapestry needle, your swatches, worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to class.

Project Classes for Beginner Knitters with some knitting experience:

B1: Knit your First Hat
Are you tired of knitting scarves? Yes, you can work in the round with a bulky yarn and knit your first hat! So cute for adults, kids, even
babies. Make everyone a HAT for the winter season. Basic knitting skills are all you need. We will show you how to join and work on
circular needles, decrease andchange colors. Please bring size 10  16” circular needle to class.

B2: Easy booties in two hours!
Knit these cute booties in no time at all. It's the greatest pattern: just tricky enough to be good for beginners. Learn yarn-overs, knitting 2
together and purling 2 together. Then make a bunch for all the babies in your life. Please bring size  5 or 6 needles to class and pick
worsted or sport yarn before class starts.

B3: It's a BALL! Knit it!
Just in time for all those baby showers, come join Heather to learn a very simple pattern that will demystify short rows knitting.  And, in
the end, you'll have a lovely handmade present for that special munchkin!  Knitting skills needed: casting on, knit stitch.  Materials: Small
gauge yarn (sock yarn works well)- 2 colors, straight needles called for on your yarn ball band, 2-3 big handfuls of stuffing, yarn needle
for sewing seam.

Project Classes for Intermediate Knitters (knitting, purling, increase & decrease skills
needed.)

N1: Toe-up Socks
Socks knit from the toe to the cuff can be specially altered and tweaked to fit the wearer... which makes them vastly appealing to new
sock knitters! With basic knitting and purling knowledge, this class will quickly cover DPN (double pointed needle) usage and casting on
the toe of a sock. You will learn to cast-on for the toe, make-one (M1) increases, a short row heel, and the perfect stretchy bind-off.  
Please bring a set of size 3 double pointed needles to class.

N2: Felt Clogs
Make your own FELT CLOGS! The perfect gift for yourself or for someone special. No more cold feet! With a few skeins of wool and a
fabulous pattern (plus a fabulous teacher), we will show you how to knit up and felt these wonderful cozy slippers. You will want to make
some for yourself and then do a bunch for all the people who want to take yours away. Basic knitting skills required.
Please bring to class: (1) size 13 circular needle in 24" or 16", (1) size 13 straight needles, (1) size 13 stitch marker, a tapestry needle
row counter and a pen or pencil.
NOTE: There will be homework assigned at the end of the first class to complete before the second class.

N3: Felt a great EASTER BASKET
Felt one of these cute baskets just in time for Easter! All it talkes is 2 skins of color-changing yarn and a solid for the handle! Skills
needed: just knitting and purling. You will learn to increase and knit in the round, and make I-cord, as well as how to felt your project.
Please bring 5 dpns in size 101/2, and a 24" size 101/2 needle , sitch marker and row counter to class.

N4: Knit this great BAG
Make a beautiful knitted bag using an unusual stitch and a variety of colors. Maybe even make a detour off of the pattern and add your
own creative touch (optional!) Who knows!  Basic knowledge of casting on, knitting and purling required.

N5: EZ Baby Surprise Jacket
The Baby Surprise Jacket was designed by Elizabeth Zimmermann in 1968 and remains a popular baby garment to this day.
The jacket is knit in a single piece from the shoulders down, with just two seams that run across the shoulders and down the length of
the sleeves. It is gorgeous in self-striping yarn, or use bits of your stash to make stripes. It's fun to do, and exciting to see it magically
turn into a little jacket! Please bring needles to class. Note:Homework will be assigned before the class!
