The Mother Bear Project is a grass-roots, non-profit
group dedicated to providing comfort and hope to children,
primarily those affected by HIV/AIDS in emerging nations,
by giving them a gift of love in the form of hand-knit and
crocheted bears.  To date,
27,300 bears have been sent to
South Africa, Zambia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Ethiopia,
Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi, Botswana, Rwanda,
Uganda, Namibia
and other countries as we find out more
about children in need.

                                   To date,
Lovelyarns has shipped 124 bears!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Stop by the shop and pick up a pattern to knit a bear.
Lovelyarns is happy to supply
all yarn you need, and we will pay the additional $3.00 to ship and distribute  your first bear.
This money goes directly into shipping the bears air-mail through the US Postal Service and taxes and duty on the receiving end in Africa.
(We are more than happy to supply additional yarn for more bears, but you will be responsible for the $3.00 shipping on all
additional bears.)

THEN WHAT?
Go home and knit! (or crochet!) This pattern allows you to be as creative as you like with color, texture, pattern, etc.  Then bring your bear to
Lovelyarns and we will have you sign your  first name on a tag and attach it to your bear's wrist before we hang him on the wall for display.

WHERE DO THE BEARS GO? For a list of places the bears go, click  where they go   for the Mother Bear website.

HOW DOES MY BEAR GET THERE?
Just drop your bear at Lovelyarns, and we will assemble a pack of bears to ship directly to the project headquarters   where they  will sew a
red felt heart on your bear and ship it to one of their partners for distribution to the children.
