Our team of talented, enthusiastic teachers will help you learn all kinds of new skills. ​

 

From beginner knitting and crochet to jewelry-making, spinning and weaving, we offer a broad selection to suit any skill level.  



Class sizes are small (maximum 6 students) so our students get plenty of individualized attention.  You also receive 10% off class materials when purchased at Lovelyarns.

Floor Loom Weaving Workshop*

 Let Noelani guide you on your fiber journey to help make your dream project become a reality in this super fun weaving workshop! You will learn all the basics of weaving on a floor loom from soup to nuts! All materials are included in this 16hr, multi-session workshop. Bring a snack, beverage, and a sense of adventure! If you have some ideas about what you want to make, bring those along too!

Natural Dye Workshop*

Learn the art of natural dyeing with Noelani Jones! This fun workshop will take place outside in our backyard "dye studio".  All the materials will be supplied for you and the yarns will be pre-mordanted so you can have as much fun as possible experimenting with all the different colors that you can make with natural dyes. 
 

Bring a snack and some water. Wear something weather appropriate that can get dye on it.

Dyeing to Weave Workshop*

Let Noelani guide you on your fiber journey to help make your dream project become a reality in this super fun weaving workshop! You will learn all the basics of weaving on a floor loom from soup to nuts including how to dye your own warp for your project! All materials are included in this 19hr, multi-session workshop. Bring a snack, beverage, clothes that can get dye on them, and a sense of adventure! If you have some ideas about what you want to make, bring those along too!

Learn to Knit*

 Discover a lifelong hobby -- knitting!

We begin this technique course with the basics, such as how to hold the knitting needles and yarn, and progress you through all the basic stitches. This class is taught in the English-style  of knitting (controlling the yarn with your right hand).  Step-by-step, you will learn the skills needed to confidently knit any beginner-level pattern.

Learn to Drop Spin*

Have you ever wanted to spin your own yarn? In this class you will learn the basics of spinning wool roving into yarn using a drop spindle. You will gain the skills to spin a singles yarn, learn spinning related terms and techniques, and leave with instructions on how to ply your singles yarn into a two-ply yarn.

Instructor Sarah Mikkelsen learned to spin using a drop spindle at National Knit in Public Day on the National Mall in 2005.  All materials will be included in the class price and no experience is necessary.

Knitting 911*

Dropped stitches got you down? Let Melissa show you how to fix and prevent some of the most common knitting mistakes! Homework/Materials: Come to class with a couple of 4" swatches knitted up in garter stitch and in stockinette with worsted weight yarn and US8 needles (or similar). You will also need stitch markers, dental floss, a tapestry needle, a US E, F, or G crochet hook, and some knitting needles (US 6, 7, or 8 the needles you used to knit up your swatches).

Brioche is Back! Melissa will teach you the brioche basics in this fun 2 hour class. Materials: worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors and a US8 circular knitting needle at least 16" long.

Top Down Raglan Sweater Workshop**

Let Marcia guide you through the sweater knitting process in this three session class. Class will meet for two hours every other week to give you time to knit up to the next "tech area" of your pullover between sessions. Materials: 6-10 skeins of worsted weight yarn depending on the size you wish to make along with needles to get gauge. Materials can be purchased from Lovelyarns with your 10% class discount. Yarn must be ordered at least 14 DAYS before class begins to ensure that your supplies arrive on time.

My First Socks**

Learn to knit your very first pair of socks from the top down! If you haven't learned to use DPNs or knitting in the round on two circular needles or with magic loop before, you will now! In class we will be making a baby sock so we will have enough time for you to learn all the skills and techniques needed to make a sock of any size in any weight yarn.  Skills needed: cast-on, knit, purl, knit in the round.  Materials: DK weight yarn, US 3 DPNs, two 16" circular needles, or a 32" or longer circular needle for magic loop.

This is a 3-session class taught in 2-hour sessions.  Masks are a must.
