Our team of talented, enthusiastic teachers will help you learn all kinds of new skills. ​

 

From beginner knitting and crochet to jewelry-making, spinning and weaving, we offer a broad selection to suit any skill level.  



Class sizes are small (maximum 6 students) so our students get plenty of individualized attention.  You also receive 10% off class materials when purchased at Lovelyarns.

Learn a new skill​ with one of our fabulous teachers.  Get the basics down with these classes, and then graduate to something more adventurous!

Anything Can Be A Thread!*

Let Noelani guide you on your fiber journey in our  *NEW* "Anything Can Be A Thread" tapestry weaving workshop! You will gather mixed materials from nature, outside, or in your home and learn all the basics of tapestry weaving on a floor loom from soup to nuts!

 

We will create tiny tapestries with these unconventional materials asking ourselves what can be a thread? All yarns are included in this unique 16hr, multi-session workshop. Bring a snack, beverage, and a sense of adventure! If you have some ideas about fun, interesting, or unexpected materials and objects for weaving, bring those along too!

Learn to Knit*

 Discover a lifelong hobby -- knitting!

We begin this technique course with the basics, such as how to hold the knitting needles and yarn, and progress you through all the basic stitches. This class is taught in the English-style  of knitting (controlling the yarn with your right hand).  Step-by-step, you will learn the skills needed to confidently knit any beginner-level pattern.

Crochet Bootcamp*

Learn to crochet with Brittni in this fun two-day, 4 hour workshop! Each class session will be 2 hours long on consecutive Sundays. All materials will be included in the class price and no experience is necessary.

Knitting 911*

Dropped stitches got you down? Let Melissa show you how to fix and prevent some of the most common knitting mistakes! Homework/Materials: Come to class with a couple of 4" swatches knitted up in garter stitch and in stockinette with worsted weight yarn and US8 needles (or similar). You will also need stitch markers, dental floss, a tapestry needle, a US E, F, or G crochet hook, and some knitting needles (US 6, 7, or 8 the needles you used to knit up your swatches).

My First Knitted Hat*

Top Down Raglan Sweater Workshop**

Let Marcia guide you through the sweater knitting process in this three session class. Class will meet for two hours every other week to give you time to knit up to the next "tech area" of your pullover between sessions. Materials: 6-10 skeins of worsted weight yarn depending on the size you wish to make along with needles to get gauge. Materials can be purchased from Lovelyarns with your 10% class discount. Yarn must be ordered at least 14 DAYS before class begins to ensure that your supplies arrive on time.

Learn to Drop Spin*

Have you ever wanted to spin your own yarn? In this class you will learn the basics of spinning wool roving into yarn using a drop spindle. You will gain the skills to spin a singles yarn, learn spinning related terms and techniques, and leave with instructions on how to ply your singles yarn into a two-ply yarn.

Instructor Sarah Mikkelsen learned to spin using a drop spindle at National Knit in Public Day on the National Mall in 2005.  All materials will be included in the class price and no experience is necessary.

"Aria Delicato"

Are you enchanted by lace patterns but feeling a little nervous about beginning one? Let Sarah guide you as you level up your knitting in this fun class! Learn the basics of knitting lace while making "Aria Delicato" by Anne Hanson.  

 

Materials Needed: A copy of the "Aria Delicato" pattern which is available for purchase on Ravelry, one skein of fingering weight yarn, US 5 knitting needles, stitch markers.

 

In this class you will learn to read a lace chart, directional decreases, a double decrease, and yarn overs.

Entrelac**

Learn the basics of  entrelac knitting with Melissa in this fun two hour class.  Entrelac knitting is a more advanced technique that creates a beautiful woven texture.  Unlike most basket weave stitches, entrelac works on the diagonal and in different directions so it truly looks like strips of woven knitting. Worked in short rows, you can knit this type of pattern in one or more colors.  You should already be comfortable with knitting basics before you sign up for this class.

Materials: 2 or more contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn and a pair of size US8/5mm knitting needles (circs or straights it doesn't matter because we will be knitting flat.)

Gauge & Mods**

Ever want to make a pattern but it's not in your size? Or not in the weight yarn you want to use? Learning to find your gauge in knitting OR crochet can help you modify any pattern to suit your specific needs! Let Melissa show you how to become a "Mod Master" in this fun two hour class.  

 

HOMEWORK/Materials: You will need to make a swatch in stockinette or in single crochet made in any weight yarn with knitting needles or a crochet hook that gives you a fabric that you like.  Bring to class some scrap paper, a pen or pencil, gauge square/measuring tape, and a calculator.

Socks from the Top Down**

Learn to knit socks from the top down with Melissa in this fun 3-session workshop! You should already be comfortable knitting in the round, casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off.  

 

Materials: 50g (100g is fine too) of DK weight yarn; US 3 DPNs, (two circs, or a longer needle for magic loop if you prefer);  stitch markers, and a tapestry needle.  Get a 10% discount on all of your class materials when you purchase them at the shop!

You will need worsted weight yarn, a stitch marker and 32" US 4 circular knitting needles to knit in the round using magic loop.
