Hi everyone! I hope you're as excited for summer as I am. A crucial part of being ready for summer is having cute accessories to use for any occasion. That's where the Mini clamshell tote comes in handy. Last summer, I decided I wanted a tote that I could make with a small amount of yarn. So, I had to get pretty creative. This tote is a granny square based bag that uses 7 panels instead of the traditional 13. This makes it much quicker to finish and allows you to show off your bag much sooner. This class is for those who can crochet at an intermediate level. In order to feel comfortable with the pacing of the class, each person who signs up should have basic knowledge of single crochet, double crochet, slipknot, slip stitch, and how to make a chain. During the class we will expand upon this knowledge to make 1 new type of stitch called a cluster stitch that will be used to create the Farmhouse Granny Square. This class will be taught in two, 2 hour sessions, where I will instruct how to make the granny squares and how to organize them to form the tote. In between that time the participants are expected to finish the body of the bag on their own. The second class will focus on how to make the handles and attach them to the bag and add the border to the tote. Materials: 600 yds of DK weight yarn and a 3.75mm hook OR 440 yds of WORSTED weight yarn and either a 4mm or 4.5mm hook, stitch markers, tapestry needle, and scissors.
