For Beginner to Intermediate crocheters, a Summer Crochet Beach Hat worked using worsted weight cotton, one skein each of two contrasting colors and size 7/4.5 mm crochet hook (for the shell pattern) and size E/3.5 mm crochet hook (for the brim). The hat is worked in rounds from the top(crown) down to the brim in an easy shell pattern stitch. And the brim is worked by first decreasing the stitches to work a band to fit neatly around the head, then the brim is worked in half double crochet( hdc) pattern through the back loops only, worked in increased rounds to the end.
