Kim Dyes Yarn hand dyed fiber and yarn is all lovingly hand dyed by Kim Russo at her home studio in Northern Virginia. Kim loves color and all of the ways colors blend and contrast with each other. This love of painting color onto fibers is a passion. As a lifelong knitter, Kim knows the quality of the fibers, the yarn composition and structure, the way yarn is dyed make a difference in the pleasure you experience while working with yarn and the quality of the finished project.
More recently, Kim has learned to spin fibers into yarn with a spinning wheel and a drop spindle to ensure that the fibers dyed at Kim Dyes Yarn are what hand spinners desire in hand dyed fibers. Spinning has become a meditative way for Kim to pass time which feeds both visual and textural senses.
To help keep the work of dyeing from becoming banal, new colorways and dyeing techniques are always being crafted. Kim has been dyeing yarn for over thirteen years.
When not dyeing or working with fiber, Kim is reading, baking, cooking new recipes, working on the garden and doting on her cat- Mushu, and her dog- Duncan. Kim shares a life with her husband and their grown children.
Inspiration comes from nature, books, music, and art.

We are thrilled to have some of Kim's beautiful yarn and fiber at our shop this December!

The Mayor's Christmas Parade is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Enjoy the amazingness that is this one-of-a-kind parade (Jedis and Boumis anyone?) with your fave fibery friends at Lovelyarns! Melissa is making her famous hot buttered rum and will also provide cookies!
A special treat this year, one of our young Lovelies, Annabel LaMason, is a Junior Miss Yuletide runner-up and will be ON the float! The parade will run 1pm-4pm and come right by the front of our shop so bring your camp chair and a warm sweater to cheer on Annabel and all of the other fabulous participants!
