Urth Yarns TS.jpg

Urth Yarns is back for a trunk show this September! We are featuring their plant dyed Harvest DK and Harvest Fingering yarns! The Harvest line is hand-dyed with fruits, nuts, and roots, yielding a timeless palette of earthy shades and resulting in a series of products that are genuine yet coherent.

Watch the virtual tour of the show HERE!

Urth Yarns are crafted meticulously by the hands of talented women in Urth's Mersin and Istanbul studios.  Harvest is more than just a yarn.  These earthy tones are brought to you by natural ingredients and artisan hands of local women in rural Southeast Turkey. Each color is named after its dyeing material. While some colors meet your expectation, some colors turn out surprisingly different compared to their dyes. Although we show utmost care for consistency, dye lots are subject to slight variation as each harvest is… which makes it so fun each time.

In a mission to sustain and give back, Urth Yarns has partnered with Trees for the Future, helping them keep the planet clean and green. Thanks to this vital collaboration, the sale of each skein of Urth Yarns plants a tree.

Trees for the Future is a nonprofit organization on a mission to improve the livelihoods of impoverished farmers by revitalizing degraded lands. Learn more about Trees for the Future here.

wheat grasses blowing with the summer breeze
rolling hills bathed in warm and gentle light
fields of gold glistening in the setting sun

"The Fields of Gold sweater was inspired by these thoughts, as well as the wool used. As I knit with unspun yarn (pencil roving), I am constantly reminded of how close to nature and the earth this wool is. Every blade of grass I discover in the fiber reminds me that this was alive. Part of a living being that rolled in the hay and played. I imagine the sheep that provided me this wool grazed in fields of gold - and in this pattern it’s like coming back home.

This design is best suited for an intermediate knitter who would like to learn new techniques."

Materials:

1800 - 3660 yards (1646 - 3347 m) of Ístex Plötulopi – Unspun Icelandic wool held double.

Tapestry needle, stitch markers.
