"Ainava is a bottom up oversized batwing sweater designed with a mixture of crochet short rows and post stitches. The texture of Ainava is inspired by the ups and downs of a serrated landscape that plays with subtle highlights, shadows and the perception of volume itself. Post stitches of varying heights pile up in lines to create a scenery-like, pleated fabric. To be a success in this class you should be VERY comfortable with chains, single, half double and double crochet. You will learn how to read a pattern, make post stitches, and do crochet short rows. This class is for an advanced beginner/intermediate crocheter who has a few projects under their belt. MATERIALS: 1835 - 3170yds of fingering weight yarn on one or more colorways; US F/3.75mm & G/4mm hook or size to get gauge; stitch markers; tapestry needle. (make sure to place your book order with Rachel & Benn at least 2 weeks before class. HOMEWORK: crochet a gauge swatch with the larger hook in double crochet: chain 41 and do 26 rows so we can measure the middle of your fabric. Pattern gauge is 22sts/13rows = 4inches AFTER blocking. Wash and block your swatch because some fibers like cotton tend to "bloom". Bring in a sweater that fits you how you want your new sweater to fit you and we will use those measurements to determine the pattern size you should knit.
