Looking for a fun way to learn or practice cables? This boxy, saddle-shouldered bottom-up pullover is the perfect choice for getting comfortable with cables and quickly becomes a go-to wardrobe staple. We'll go through all the major steps together: Session 1: Casting on and how to cable in the round, how to read cables in a chart Session 2: Splitting for front and back, how to cable while working flat Session 3: Arm construction Session 4: Sewing in the arms, picking up stitches for the neck This class can be for anyone with basic knitting knowledge. You should know how to knit, purl, and work in the round. Homework: Work a 3-4" gauge swatch that is at least 30 stitches wide with main (US 8) needles in stockinette but don't bind it off. We'll use this to practice our first cables. Materials: Purchase the pattern on Ravelry here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/arbus-2 900-1800y aran/worsted weight yarn (tweeds are a great choice) US 7 Needles on a 32" cable and a 9" cable or double-pointed needles (dpns) US 8 Needles on a 32" cable and a 9" cable or dpns Materials can be purchased from Lovelyarns with your 10% class discount. Yarn must be ordered at least 14 DAYS before class begins to ensure that your supplies arrive on time. We will create a personalized sweater pattern for you based on YOUR measurements and YOUR gauge! Homework: Make a 6-8inch swatch in stockinette with a needle that gives you a fabric that you like. DO NOT knit a garter stitch edge and instead of binding off your swatch, just slip the stitches onto a length of waste yarn. Bring in a top that fits you the way you want your newly knit sweater to fit you. We will use these measurements to determine the desired measurements for your sweater.
